The bridge over the River Thames in the heart of London, was built between 1886-1894 by five different companies and over 400 workers. It is 65 meters high and 244 meters long. The bridge was opened on 30 June 1894 by Edward Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VII) Tower Bridge is located near the Tower of London and Tower fortress from which it takes its name. Originally the bridge was brown in color. The present color of the bridge dates back to 1977, when painted red, white and blue for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.
